PHOENIX — Saturday is Armed Forces Day in the United States, and Rio Salado College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is hosting a free event to celebrate.

Arizona’s veterans can receive free dental cleanings, dentures, fillings, oral surgery and crowns Saturday until 3 p.m. with registration at the Rio Salado Conference Center, according to a press release.

The clinic partnered with Arizona Mission of Mercy and the Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation to put the event together.

“There are too many veterans that fall through the cracks that are struggling with day-to-day life and need help,” Dr. Ann Hammi Blue, a Phoenix periodontist and CADS Foundation board president, said in a statement.

“Having proper dental health gives veterans a chance to focus on things other than pain or infection, helps them to better access potential jobs and reminds them of the respect and gratitude we feel for their service to our country.”

Dental hygiene students and professionals will be on-site providing services to more than 115 veterans, according to the release.

Rio Salado’s Dental Clinic is located at 2250 14th Street in Tempe.
