Expats: Cheapest city in the US for healthy lifestyle named

New research by sleep experts Amerisleep revealed the cheapest city to lead a healthy lifestyle in the US among the most populated cities.

Factors such as healthcare insurance costs, price of a gym membership, price to visit a private doctor, fruit and vegetable costs, were all considered in the new study.

Atlanta came first as the cheapest city for a healthy life and the best option for British expats.

The vibrant city of Georgia has the lowest costs including gym membership or private doctors appointments.

In the second position was San Francisco with one of the cheapest healthcare costs in the US.

Another beautiful city in California, San Jose, came in third as the cheapest city to stay healthy in the US.

The average monthly gym membership in San Jose is $60 (£44) and the price to rent a tennis court for one hour is just $16.40 (£11).

Seattle came in fourth followed by Denver, Colorado.

The most expensive city to maintain a healthy lifestyle in America is Baton Rouge, in Louisiana.

Health costs in the southern city are 23 percent higher than in the cheapest city.

The second most expensive location in the US is Tucson, Arizona. Health costs in the Tucson equate to 30.7 percent of the average monthly salary.

Newark, in New Jersey, is the third most expensive city.

People in the East Coast city spend around 29.3 percent of their salary on health costs.
