The Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for their “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, but they will be without their former No. 4 overall pick. When the Raiders released their inactives for Week 1, included was defensive end Clelin Ferrell, who according to multiple reports, is a healthy scratch.

Ferrell had been listed on the injury report all week with a back injury, but was a full participant in practice in each session and was not given a game designation. The No. 4 overall pick out of Clemson has not lived up to expectations. He recorded 38 combined tackles and 4.5 sacks in 15 games in his rookie season, and then 27 combined tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles in 2020. He missed five games due to COVID-19 and a shoulder injury, however.

Ferrell has greatly been overshadowed by fellow defensive end Maxx Crosby — who was selected in the fourth round of the same draft as Ferrell. He recorded 10 sacks in his rookie season and seven quarterback takedowns in 2020. The former Eastern Michigan star is slated to start on one end while free-agent addition Yannick Ngakoue will start on the other. Ferrell was relegated to the second team, but now appears to have been relegated to the inactives.
